As the summer draws to a close

Scenes from Easter Seals:
Robbie: "I had a stomach bug."
me: "yeah?"
Robbie: "yeah I think it crawled down my throat."
me: (wants to say, "maybe you should sleep with your mouth closed" but doesn't want to give the kid a complex about swallowing bugs in his sleep.)

Robbie: "I had a caterpillar, but then my dog ate it."
me: "um, that's too bad"
Robbie: "Oh no. It's ok. Now I'm going to get a robot caterpillar so my dog doesn't eat it."

Robbie: "Miss Julie, I can make my head spin all the way around."
me: *dies laughing* "I don't know that you should brag about that Robbie."

LOL, I love kids. Good times, good times. I finished my creative hours!!!

Moving on . . .

We just found out that my cousin is a diabetic. She's 3(?) or somewhere there abouts. She's already had to have surgery on her eyes because she was born cross-eyed . . . which is why they missed the symptoms of blurred vision . . . and most of my aunts kids are tiny, so they didn't think much of her being small . . . What happened was one of my other cousins (who's 11) passed out so my great-uncle took her blood sugar. Then my other cousin, Mariah, decided she wanted to have hers done too and it was like 144 at noon and she hadn't eaten since breakfast. So they took her to a doctor and she's going to see a specialist soon. She's such a wonderful kid, and it seems like she has it so tough sometimes.

On a side note, that caused my mom to decide to take my sister to to doctor to make sure she's not diabetic.

I've been amazed at how quickly I fell in love with the Easter Seals kids. I'm going to miss them so much . . . I think I may try to keep going during the school year in the evenings.
